I worked in several Public School Systems for thirty years before retiring in 2009. I have a Master’s degree in Exceptional Children and spent my career working in various areas of the Exceptional Children’s programs. I have always been passionate about helping to make the lives of our children better. I was born and raised in Red Springs and feel very strongly about helping my community. I became interested in Communities In Schools after retiring. I have been fortunate to work with the students and faculty at Red Springs Middle for the past ten years. Red Springs Middle has approximately 560 students made up mainly of Hispanic, African American and Native American students. We have many programs to help the students in our school and community. It is rewarding to work with the businesses and members of the community to help make a better place for our children. We have many services to help our students such as BakPak Pals, Adopt a child programs for Christmas, Mountaire Farms Thanksgiving for Thousands, Read Across America Day, Food Drives and Clothing Drives, Tutoring, Mentors and UNCP tutors.
